A MESSAGE FROM THE FUTURE

The Intercept and Naomi Klein, A Message From the Future With Alexandria Ocasio- Cortez, 2019.

Presented by author and activist Naomi Klein and the online news outlet The Intercept, this animated short film (7 minutes) illustrates an alternative vision for our future. New York Congressmember, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, narrates the film to imagine the United States, a couple of decades from now, that has been transformed by the Green New Deal policies. A United States that has radically changed its habitat and way of life; including a Just Transition of the economy, Medicare for all and a total conversion to green energy. With the aim of tackling public apathy and scepticism, this utopian animation visualises radical hope and decisive climate action which saves humanity from the climate crisis just in the nick of time. With stunning illustrations by award-winning Molly Crabapple, the film beautifully bridges forces between the visual arts, politics and activism.
